The New York Jets and right guard Joe Tippmann agreed to a four-year, $62 million contract extension, a league source told UPI on Monday.
Tippmann’s pact includes $31 million in guarantees. He is now under contract with the Jets through the 2031 season. The second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft was entering the final year of his rookie contract.
Tippmann, 25, started all 17 games in each of the last two seasons, splitting time at center and guard.
The Jets will hold mandatory minicamp from Tuesday through Thursday. They are expected to hold training camp in late July. The Jets will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their preseason opener Aug. 14 in East Rutherford, N.J.
They will take on the Tennessee Titans in their regular-season opener Sept. 13 in Nashville.
